About Majaz Architectural Competition

Majaz Architectural Competitions were launched in 2025 as a competition among architecture graduates from Iraqi universities. This initiative encompasses a competition between graduation projects in architectural departments in Iraqi universities. The competition aims to be a motivation for distinguished students and one of the most important reasons for a strong start for them to work at the highest levels. The competition aims to develop the path of architecture in Iraq by encouraging the design of buildings that respect their context and surroundings. The competition is a contest between final year students in all architectural departments in Iraq, and it is an opportunity for students, their supervisors, and departments to compete to prove their capabilities and design skills.

Competition Work Plan

In this round, which is the first round, projects will be received electronically. A registration link will be announced, through which students register their projects to receive a special code for their projects. Submitted projects should be free from any indication pointing to the student, supervisor, or university from which they graduated. Participation is free for the first round. Projects will be collected in August 2025. After that, the organizing committee arranges the submitted projects and prepares them for evaluation by classifying them, removing names, and preparing the projects for evaluation. The organizing committee includes architects and university professors, and it is important to mention that any member of the organizing committee is not entitled to express any opinion in the evaluation, as the evaluation committee is a completely different committee. Projects are evaluated in September 2025 and contestants are announced a month later. If it is decided to hold an awards ceremony, it will be in October 2025, and invitations will be sent to the winners and their supervisors then.

In Summary: Projects will be collected in August 2025. Then evaluation takes place in September 2025 and winners are announced a month later. If the ceremony is decided to be held, it will be in October 2025.
